Arts Catalyst The Garden Activity Pack2025

♥ Client: Studio Voltaire
Collaboration: F.A.T. Studio
Year:  2023
♥ Location: London

This project set out to create an engaging, educational resource for young people that celebrates the beauty and diversity of the natural world. The activity pack was designed to inspire a deeper connection with nature, foster creativity, and build understanding of environmental stewardship in young audiences.

Working closely with F.A.T. Studio CIC and Studio Voltaire, we explored Studio Voltaire's artist-designed garden in depth, drawing inspiration from its rich tapestry of plants, fruits, and flowers. The pack was carefully crafted, bringing together vibrant illustrations, interactive activities, and informative fun facts, all shaped around an age-appropriate, accessible design.

I designed three activities for the pack. The first invites children to draw a daisy, and the second a ladybird, both introducing basic drawing skills in an approachable way. The third and largest, Design Your Own Garden, opens up space for children to think about composition and how to arrange elements within a space, ideas that sit at the heart of design itself. I also proposed including spare blank sheets within the pack, so children could draw directly into it and leave a trace of themselves. The idea was that the pack should not just be something they read or follow, but something they become part of.

The final product is a small, free publication that blends artistic exploration with environmental education. It offers creative spaces for personal sketches and garden designs, inviting young people to express their own ideas about community gardening. Physical copies are available to pick up at Studio Voltaire, and a digital version can be downloaded at the link below.
